Press Release

Langley Federal Credit Union awards grants to schools

Langley Federal Credit Union awarded $10,000 in grants — forty grants of $250 each — to local schools. The recipients of the award were selected for outstanding programs designed to teach financial literacy in the classroom.

Schools will use the grant money for a multitude of projects all related to financial literacy education, such as:

  • How to create a youth budget.
  • A student-run, non-profit school-supply store.
  • The creation of a Reality Fair where students pick a hypothetical occupation and manage all aspects of their finances.

Langley's longstanding philosophy is that financial education begins at a young age. LFCU has been dedicated to educating the community on financial matters for many years, and considers financial education a part of its mission.
