 Advanced Estate Planning

Speaker: William H. Carmines, Attorney; The Heritage Law Group. In the Advanced Estate Planning Presentation, Attorney William H. Carmines will expand on the basic estate planning presentation to discuss in detail issues concerning estate tax planning and dealing with assets that require special attention such as qualified retirement plans, life insurance policies, rental properties, non-Virginia real estate, and guns and firearms. Attorney Carmines will also discuss ways of passing down your family values through your estate planning, dealing with beneficiaries with special needs or alcohol and drug issues, as well as providing for pets.

Learn valuable information, such as: role of the lender; credit report & credit issues; budgeting/managing your personal finances; relationship with the real estate agent; home inspection; and the closing process.

 Life Care Planning

Thursday, June 6, 6:30 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.
Speaker: Elizabeth E. Bircher, Attorney; The Heritage Law Group. Life Care Planning is pre-medical crisis planning that focuses on identifying services, supports, benefits and payment options that allow the elder to stay in his or her home as long as possible. Life Care Planning's proactive focus on the elder receiving care as needed - rather than waiting for a medical emergency to occur - may allow the elder to stay in his or her own home longer than would have otherwise been necessary. A Life Care Plan will also identify estate planning documents that need prepared or updated and will discuss asset protection strategies that may be implemented.

This presentation will cover the common methods of financial exploitation as well as warning signs of exploitation and methods individuals can take to protect them and their loved ones.
