Chartered on April 17, 1936 by a group of 25 members of the National Advisory Committee for Aeronautics — later to become the National Aeronautics & Space Administration (NASA) — each member deposited $1 to cover the chartering fee. Today, Langley is ranked as one of the top 100 largest credit unions in the United States.
