Elvington receives highest honor from VA Peninsula Crime Stoppers

Barbara Elvington, Senior Vice President of Operations, received the prestigious Fred Kern Meritorious Service Award from the Virginia Peninsula Crime Stoppers during their "Salute to Law Enforcement" luncheon on June 19, 2014. The award acknowledges Elvington's ten plus years of outstanding, dedicated service to the organization.

"This award is about 5 years old and has only been presented twice-to the Daily Press and Adams Advertising for their contributions in assisting the organization," said Peninsula Crime Stoppers Chairman Fred Kern. "This is the first time the honor has been presented to an individual."

"It is an honor to receive this award - Crime Stoppers is an amazing organization with a very dedicated Board of Directors," stated Elvington.

Peninsula Crime Stoppers has been active on the Peninsula for 25 years, and during that time has been instrumental in solving over 250 crimes ranging from murder and theft, to narcotics. The organization provides reward money for citizen's tips to the Crime Stoppers hotline, 1-800-LOCKUUP, that helps identify suspects and solve crimes.
