Virginia Beach Schools FCU

Merger Updates

Merger Approval from Members

On October 19, 2021, Virginia Beach Schools Federal Credit Union Members overwhelmingly voted in favor of merging with Langley Federal Credit Union. We are excited to welcome the Virginia Beach Schools FCU Members and team members to the Langley family.

What happens next? After the legal merger date of November 1, 2021, we will begin working on an integration process with a goal of having Virginia Beach Schools FCU systems fully joined with Langley on April 1, 2022. Once the two credit unions are completely integrated, all branches will operate as Langley branches, which means even more convenient branch options in Hampton Roads to help you save, borrow, and spend wisely.

On October 22, Langley branches located in Virginia Beach, Norfolk and Chesapeake will be shared branch outlets. For your convenience you will be able to use these branches to conduct certain financial transactions on your VBS FCU accounts.

Meanwhile, current Langley members will see no changes during or after the transition period. It will be business as usual.

We will continue to keep you informed as we make progress on this exciting joint venture.

Virginia Beach Schools FCU to Merge With Langley

06/30/21 9am

The Board of Directors and Leadership team of Langley are excited to announce that Virginia Beach Schools Federal Credit Union (VBSFCU) has announced plans to merge with us.

The Board of Directors and Leadership of VBSFCU recognize they can better serve their membership by merging with Langley. As the financial services landscape continues to evolve, merging with Langley allows VBSFCU to enhance what they can offer members, such as access to more branch locations, and the ability to offer more product and services at competitive rates.

VBSFCU was formed in 1960 at Princess Anne High School to meet the financial needs of their teachers. Since then, they have grown to serve all Virginia Beach City Public Schools, Accomack and Northampton County Schools, and Virginia Wesleyan University. In addition, they serve the employees of the Virginia Beach Adult Learning Center, St. John the Apostle Catholic School, and the Art Institute of Virginia Beach.

This is an exciting opportunity. VBSFCU shares Langley’s values and commitment to their employees, members, and community – making them a great organization to combine efforts with.

We will keep you informed as we make progress on this exciting venture. In the meantime, if you have any questions we haven’t answered please contact us at 757-827-5328.
