What to Expect

We outlined some key dates before and after the merger. Please familiarize yourself with what will happen during these few weeks

March 14

Information Mailed

You'll receive a member packet in the mail, based on the address provided to VBSFCU. This packet will include important information regarding your account and the different Langley products and services we offer.

March 21-30

Reminders Sent

During this time, we will send out reminders and other important information through mail and email. We'll continuously update you on the merger as we get closer to the date.

If you currently have a VBSFCU debit card, you'll receive your new Langley debit card in the mail. Please hold on to it and activate it when the conversion is complete. You'll also receive a free box of Langley checks to use after the merger.

March 31

Branch Closures and Online Banking Deactivated

VBSCU Bonney Road branch and Salem Road branch will close at 3:00 PM. They will reopen on Monday, April 4.

VBSFCU Online and Mobile Banking will be deactivated at 6:00 PM. Automated telephone systems will also be deactivated. Once the conversion is complete, you will have the opportunity to register for Langley's Online and Mobile Banking.

April 1

Conversion Begins

At 12:00 AM, all VBSFCU debit cards will be deactivated.

The conversion process will begin.

VBSFCU members will not have access to their accounts or funds during the conversion. The process will take 24 hours to complete. Please plan accordingly.

April 2

Conversion is Complete

Your Langley accounts are ready!

The account conversion will be complete. You will have access to your accounts and funds.

Activate your debit card to begin using it.

To register for Online and Mobile Banking, make sure to have your new member number, social security number, date of birth, and the zip code associated with your account.


What You'll Receive

In March, you'll receive a few important items in the mail:

New Account Number
Your Langley account number, also known as your member number, will be sent to you in a letter via the USPS mail.

New Debit Card
If you currently have a VBSFCU debit card, you will receive a new one. On April 2, you can activate your new debit card and use it.

New Langley checks
You'll receive your first box of checks for free. If you need additional checks, you can order them at any Langley branch or by phone after 757-827-5328. Any VBSFCU checks will not be accepted after the conversion on Friday, April 1.

Once conversion is complete, your VBSFCU accounts will become Langley accounts, applying the benefits and features of our products. We encourage you to review our products and services through our website.

Please note, VBSFCU credit cards will not be transferred over to Langley at this time.


What You'll Need to Do

There are few things you'll need to do to get the most from your new Langley accounts.

Activate Your Debit Card if You Received One
Follow the instructions on your new debit card to activate it after Friday, April 1.

Register for Online Banking
Once the conversion is complete, you can register for Online and Mobile Banking to access your account information. Download Langley's Mobile app from your Apple iOS or Google Play store.

Update Your Direct Deposit and Bill Pay.
To update your direct deposit, you must use your deposit account number and Langley's routing number. You can find the deposit account number at the bottom of your Langley checks or by logging into Online Banking. To access it in Online Banking, go to your savings or checking account in the app and view details. In the details section, you will see a deposit account number. You can also visit a branch or call the contact center for more assistance. Make sure to enroll in Bill Pay and update payee information for any automatic bill payments.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will the branches be open during the system conversions?

The VBSFCU Branches at Bonney Road and Salem Road will close at 3:00 P.M. on Thursday, March 31, 2022. Both branches will reopen for business on Monday, April 4, 2022 as Langley entities.

Will I be able to use shared branching services at other credit unions?

As a credit union member, you can visit other credit unions that are part of the shared branching services. Check our website for shared branches in the Hampton Roads area. However, you will not have access to any funds or account information on Friday, April 1.

Can I use an ATM/Debit Card during the conversion?

No, all VBSFCU debit cards will be deactivated at 12:00 A.M. on Friday, April 1, 2022. You will not have access to your account or any funds for 24 hours on Friday, April 1, 2022. You will be able to activate your new Langley debit card on Saturday, April 2, 2022.

What will happen to my VBSFCU Credit Card?

VBSFCU Credit Cards will not be affected by the conversion. You can continue to use your VBSFCU credit card before, during and after the conversion. This product will not move to Langley until 2023. We will provide more information to those members with a VBSFCU credit card at a later date.

Will any branch hours be affected after the system conversion?

The VBSFCU Branches will become Langley branches on Monday, April 4, 2022. Hours of operations are Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM and Saturday, 8:30 AM to 12:00 PM.

Will I have access to VBSFCU branches and ATMs?

You will be able to visit the VBSFCU branches when they reopen as Langley branches on Monday, April 4. During the conversion on Friday, April 1, 2022, you will have no access to your VBSFCU accounts or funds while the conversion takes place. If you are in need of a branch, we encourage you to visit one of our Langley locations.

Will my account number change?

Yes, your VBSFCU account number will change as part of the conversion. You will be sent a new account number prior to Friday, April 1, 2022.

Will I still have access to my eStatements from VBSFCU?

You will be mailed your last VBSFCU statement on Thursday, March 31, whether you were enrolled in eStatements or currently receive them via mail. All previous VBSFCU statements will be available starting Saturday, April 2 through Online and Mobile Banking.

Will I need to update my direct deposit and Bill Pay?

Yes. To update your direct deposit, you must enroll in Online and Mobile Banking to access your deposit account number. This deposit account number is required for any direct deposit. To access it, go to your Checking or Savings account in Online Banking and view "Details". In the details section, you will see the deposit account number to use. Langley's routing number is 251480738.

Will I be receiving a new membership card?

No, you will not receive a new membership card. You will receive your new account number and important information regarding your accounts in a letter through USPS mail. You can use your new account number once the conversion is complete on Saturday, April 2, 2022.

Will there be any changes to my checking account(s)?

Yes. In the conversion, your current VBSFCU checking account will transition to a Langley checking account. Visit LangleyFCU.org to see all the checking accounts we offer.

Will there be a new ABA (Routing) number?

Yes. The routing number will be 251480738.

Will there be changes to my existing savings account(s)?

Yes. In the conversion, your current VBSFCU savings account(s) will transition to a Langley savings account.

If I have a separate Langley account, will it be affected by the system conversions?

No, your Langley account will remain as is. Only your VBSFCU accounts will be affected.

If I currently have a VBSFCU debit card, will I receive a new debit card?

Yes, we will mail you a new Langley debit card prior to Friday, April 1, 2022. Your current VBSFCU debit card will be deactivated at 12:00 AM on Friday, April 1, 2022 and you will be unable to use your account or any funds while the conversion takes place. The conversion will be complete on Saturday, April 2, 2022.

Will I have to order new checks?

Langley will mail you one box of free checks. If you require more, you can come by a branch to order additional checks or call us at 757-827-5328. Checks from VBSFCU will not be accepted after Friday, April 1.

Will VBSFCU Online Banking be affected by the system conversion?

The VBSFCU Online and Mobile Banking apps will be deactivated at 6:00 PM on Thursday, March 31, 2022. Once the conversion is complete on Saturday, April 2, you will be able to enroll in Langley’s Online and Mobile Banking.

What accounts will I see when I enroll for Langley's Online and/or Mobile Banking?

Once the conversion is complete on Saturday, April 2, you will see all your VBSFCU checking and loan accounts available in Online and Mobile Banking.

Will the VBSFCU website be affected by the system conversion?

The VBSFCU website will be removed on Thursday, March 31 at 6pm. The VBSFCU website will be redirected to Langley on Saturday, April 2.

Do I still contact VBSFCU by phone the same way I always have?

After Thursday, March 31, 2022, you will be unable to contact VBSFCU by phone. We encourage you to visit langleyfcu.org to use our chat feature on our website, come into a branch, or call us at 757-827-5328.

Does Langley have a Facebook/Instagram/Twitter account?

Yes. We encourage you to follow Langley for latest news, tips, and available products. You can find Langley on Facebook @LangleyFCU, on Instagram @langleyfederalcreditunion and on Twitter @LangleyFCU. The VBSFCU social media pages will be deactivated on Friday, April 1.
