FAQs

What is the difference between a Savings Account and a High-Yield Savings Account and which should I use?
At a credit union, a Savings Account with a minimum deposit serves as your share in the organization and is required for basic membership. A Savings Account will earn dividends that are deposited straight back into the account based on your interest rate. Langley's Savings Account has a current interest rate of 0.05% APY on balances greater than $100. The minimum balance required in your Savings Account for membership at Langley is $5.

A High-Yield Savings Account is not required for membership but benefits members with a higher interest rate of 3.60% APY, and therefore larger dividends. Members can only withdraw from their High-Yield Savings one (1) time per calendar month. If a member does withdraw more than once, they forfeit their higher interest rate for the month in which they over-withdraw and will earn a rate of 0.05% APY instead. Members must have eStatements enabled to receive the High-Yield Savings rate.
