Impact Highlights
Education
Langley is dedicated to increasing access to higher education as we understand that education is the foundation of success and financial wellbeing. In 2025, Langley expanded three of its education initiatives to serve more students and educators across our communities.
Langley provided $150,000 in student scholarshipsat colleges and universities across Hampton Roads. In 2025, a total of $120,000 scholarships were given to students at Christopher Newport University, the College of William & Mary, Hampton University, Norfolk State University, and Old Dominion University. In addition, six $5,000 scholarships were granted to graduating high school students who are Langley members through the Jean Yokum Scholarships.
In addition to scholarships, Langley provided $10,140 to sponsor 175 high school students who were eligible to graduate but could not afford the cap and gown required to participate in their graduation ceremony. This marked a 50% increase in the dollars donated to support this initiative compared to 2024. Langley continues to collaborate with local school systems to ensure that any affected students receive the opportunity to participate in their graduation ceremony.
Langley expanded the teacher mini-grant program, distributing a total of $25,000, in 2025 to include educators in our newer communities outside of Hampton Roads. Historically, 30 Hampton Roads teachers have been awarded a $500 mini grant. For the 2025-26 school year, 30 teachers from Hampton Roads, 10 teachers from Richmond, and 10 teachers from Raleigh received a $500 mini-grant, celebrating a total of $25,000 granted to 50 educators across the communities Langley serves.

Health
Langley prioritizes mental health and wellbeing for our members, our employees, and the communities in which they live, work, and play. Through partnerships with nonprofit organizations and clinics, Langley supports healthcare as a right for all.
In 2024, Langley and the Langley for Families Foundation fulfilled their $1 million pledge to support CHKD’s new mental health hospital, with the fifth year of $200,000 combined contributions made in June 2024. Located in downtown Norfolk, the mental health hospital is making a significant impact in the community by filling a much-needed gap in services. This includes 60 inpatient beds, an extensive expansion of outpatient services, and training for mental health professionals. CHKD’s mental health hospital opened its doors in 2022 with outpatient and inpatient services having started in April and October respectively.
Employees
Our employees are the backbone of our Credit Union, and they are committed to making a difference in our communities through giving, volunteerism, and various team-based activities. In 2025, over $68,600 was donated by employees to the Langley for Families Foundation through Langley’s payroll giving program, celebrating a 4.3% increase compared to 2024. Combined with Langley Federal Credit Union’s 100% match on these contributions, the Foundation distributed over $137,290 to 63 employee nominated nonprofits.
The dedicated, hard-working, and passionate Langley team is one of the largest assets here. We continually aim to mobilize our employees to multiply our impact through volunteering efforts year-round. Langley began a tradition in 2020 - a Day of Service in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.'s legacy. Over 180 Langley employees and family members participated in Langley's 6th annual MLK Jr. Day of Service in 2025, completing 14 service projects at nonprofits across the communities Langley serves which included 12 projects in Hampton Roads and two projects in Langley’s newer communities of Raleigh, NC and Richmond, VA.
Langley employees also give back throughout the year by volunteering at Langley sponsored events and serving as Langley ambassadors. We're happy to be able to support the nonprofit sector in various ways, and help build stronger, healthier communities with some of the most impactful nonprofit organizations across the communities we serve.
