One of only 78 organizations worldwide — out of tens of millions of employees surveyed globally — to receive this distinction

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. — March 5, 2026 — Langley Federal Credit Union has been named a 2026 Gallup Exceptional Workplace Award winner, earning recognition as one of the most exceptional workplaces on the planet.

The scale of this achievement is significant. Gallup administers its Q12 employee engagement survey to organizations across more than 160 countries, capturing the experiences of tens of millions of employees worldwide. The barrier to entry alone is steep: only 5% of surveyed organizations qualify to apply for the award. Of those, only 4% ultimately win.

The Gallup Exceptional Workplace Award, in its 20th year, is widely regarded as the gold standard for workplace excellence. It is not awarded based on nominations or applications alone. Recipients must demonstrate measurable, sustained employee engagement that dramatically outpaces national and global norms. This year's winners averaged 14 engaged employees for every one actively disengaged — a ratio eight times higher than the U.S. average and 12 times higher than the global average. At Langley, our ratio is even better at 24:1, showing how committed Langley is to our purpose and to each other.

"At Langley, our people are our greatest strength," said Gaurav Bhatia, President and CEO. "This recognition reflects years of intentional work to build a culture rooted in purpose, accountability and genuine care for one another. To be counted among the best workplaces in the world is a testament to every single team member who brings that culture to life every day. When our team members thrive, our members and communities thrive as well."

The recognition carries real business weight. Gallup research consistently shows that organizations achieving this level of engagement outperform their peers across every critical business metric — including 23% higher profitability, 18% higher productivity, 64% fewer safety incidents and 43% lower employee turnover. For Langley, engagement is not a feel-good initiative — it is a proven performance strategy.

Langley's designation reflects years of sustained investment in employee wellbeing, leadership development and a values-driven culture. Through enterprise-wide engagement initiatives, structured listening strategies and leadership accountability at every level, Langley has created an environment where nearly 700 employees feel valued, heard and empowered to grow.

"This award reinforces what we've long believed: engagement is not a program — it's a strategy and a competitive differentiator," Bhatia added. "We are proud of our team and remain deeply committed to strengthening our culture so we can continue delivering exceptional service to our 400,000 members."
